Orientalist eye?

As a photographer, I have covered a wide range of subjects. Here I want to show work that relates to me as a dancer. As a belly dancer,I am obsessed with all culural manifestation of art from "the east." I can not make sense of my own identity, it is an accumulation of paradoxes: black and white, masculine and feminine, eastern and western...but I feel I look on the east with a consciously somewhat orientalistic eye.

My goal in this series is to transport the viewer to the heart a newly imagined harem. This harem is not about subjugated women, it is about liberation of the mind.
